Real world circumstances to use criteria
January 18th, 2008 by sbomerWell we have been asked to tell of a real world experience where we have used criteria to help make a decision and how did using that criteria help to make that decision.
There are so many real world circumstances where I am sure all of us have used criteria to make decisions–some we really weigh both sides and some we just say OK I want this but can I afford this and make a decision whether to buy or not–or some decisions we just make on the spur of the moment.
Recently I needed to make a decision whether I wanted to go back to school or head back into a dead end job market without a degree. Since I decided I wanted to go back to school, OK, now which school and what do I want to do? I had originally wanted to go into the field of medical coding and billing–that seemed to be a secure job market–there will always be hospitals, but I also wanted to receive my degree from a more well known or reputable school and Bowling Green is very close to where I live although I knew I only wanted to take online courses. Unfortunately BGSU does not offer medical coding and billing–only thru an affiliate school–so I decided to work towards a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree and hopefully be able to become better educated into a more rewarding career. I have not made a definite decision on what career path I would like to take as of yet, but am leaning towards something to help fight against domestic violence or some type of work with juveniles. It may not be as high paying as some careers but may at least be more rewarding. I hope to soon be able to decide what I want to be when I grow up!
